We asked East Kilbride fans to select their Team of the Decade in an online poll – and the results are in!

Thousands of you voted and your team of the decade, set up in a 4-4-2 formation, is as follows:

GOALKEEPER: MATT McGINLEY

With 58 per cent of the vote, McGinley cruised to victory. He has more than 100 appearances for the club and has played under all but one of their six permanent managers. Man-of-the-match against Celtic tells you the kind of performance he put in and, despite the result, it will go down as one of his finest moments.

LEFT-BACK: BERNARD COLL

Now in his fifth-year with East Kilbride, Bernard Coll earns his place with 44 per cent of the left-back vote. Scored a stunning opener in EK’s 2-2 Scottish Cup draw with Stenhousemuir in November 2015 and is one of the most decorated players with nine trophies.

RIGHT-BACK: SCOTT STEVENSON

Lifted his second Lowland League trophy with the club last season and lands a place in the team with 62 per cent of the vote. One of his first games was facing Celtic and he played his part in the win over Lothian Thistle that got them there.

CENTRE-BACK: DAVID PROCTOR

Topping this vote with 33 per cent, Proctor has just returned for a third spell. He’s also served as a player-coach in two of his seasons at the club, winning six trophies. A solid and experienced influence at the back.

CENTRE-BACK: STEPHEN BRONSKY

One of the original Kilby defenders, Bronsky was outstanding in EK’s South Challenge Cup final win over Dalbeattie Star in 2014. Earns his slot as one of two CBs with 24 per cent of your votes.

LEFT MIDFIELD: PAUL WOODS

Excites the Kilby fans with his willingness to take on opponents and his flashes of skill. Woodsy wins his place in the team with 51 per cent of the vote.

RIGHT MIDFIELD: SEAN WINTER

A huge fan favourite, Winter brings goals, creativity and a great work ethic.

Scored in the win over Lothian Thistle to book the Scottish Cup date with Celtic. Player of the year in the 2015/16 season and players’ player of the year in 2017/18, Winter has chipped in with 20 goals or more in all but one of his four seasons at the club so far.

CENTRE MIDFIELD: MICHAEL ANDERSON

A product of Kilby’s youth development pathway, Anderson enjoyed three full seasons at K-Park after impressing for their U20 side – and wins this vote with 35 per cent of entries. Handed his debut in 2017 against Threave at the age of 17. Caught the eye with assured displays and reading of the game, he won two league titles.

CENTRE MIDFIELD: KIERAN GIBBONS

Won player of the year at the club two years running and scored the goal that earned Kilby a penalty shootout with Cowdenbeath in the SPFL play-off final.

Won the league with Kilby in 2017 and was part of the squad that went on the 30-game winning run.

STRIKER: CHRIS McDOUGALL

Kilby’s key man in their inaugural season, McDougall turned in a man of the match display in the 2-0 South Challenge Cup final win over Dalbeattie Star, netting the opener and winning the penalty that Marc Templeton dispatched.

He was the club’s top scorer with 13 goals and tops this vote on 35 per cent.

STRIKER: ROSS McNEIL

A prolific poacher, McNeil has won two Lowland league titles. The second striker and final player in the team with 24 per cent of the vote, McNeil sure had a nose for goal. His scoring spree in 2017/18 saw him net more than 20 goals in all competitions and top the Lowland League goalscoring charts.

MANAGER: MARTIN LAUCHLAN

With a huge 81 per cent of the votes, Lauchlan takes the gaffer prize. In 16 months at K-Park he won four trophies, including a league title, and took the team to within a penalty shootout of promotion. Took the team on that incredible 30-game win run.
