Continuing to help the most vulnerable
DR LISA CAMERON MP
I would like to wish everyone across the constituency of East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow a wonderful Christmas and a very peaceful NewYear.
The Brexit Bill went through parliament today and politics is likely to be as eventful in 2020 as it has been in 2019.
The impact of Brexit and of future trade deals will require scrutiny to government and I will be doing so, particularly where it impacts upon our NHS and access to medications needed by local constituents.
I will continue to stand up for the most vulnerable as chairwoman of both the Health and Disability All Party Parliamentary groups at Westminster.
In our constituency for 2020, I will also renew my focus for you upon local issues.
We must take Pride in East Kilbride and I will be meeting with local community councils in order to support them in their progress.
I will be continuing my focus upon mental health, older adults and disability.
At Christmas time, many people find themselves alone and it can be particularly difficult if there have been bereavements or health concerns throughout the year. We have a wonderful constituency, where so many people look after others.
So I would ask that during the festive season you take care of your neighbours and friends who may be struggling and spend some extra time with those whose family are no longer with them.
A small gesture can make such a difference to combat loneliness.
The spirit of Christmas is helping and reaching out to others and I am so very heartened that our constituency has this in abundance.
