Nursery registration deadline reminder

-

Parents are being reminded to register their children for starting nursery this August.

A total of 1140 hours nursery will be available to all three and four-year-olds in South Lanarkshire as part of an expansion in funded early years care.

If you have a child due to attend nursery after the summer make sure to register your application for a place now.

The deadline for applications is February 28.

South Lanarkshire Council Chair of Education Councillor Katy Loudon said: “Nursery can play an important role in helping children build the solid foundations on which to base their education.

“It’s also great for social skills and fun and with funded places for 1140 hours available for all three and four-year-olds, I’d encourage all families to consider enrolling their young ones for early years education.”

South Lanarkshire Council is working to provide a flexible service for parents and carers and children aged three between March 1 and August 31 are eligible for the funded place starting from August 13 this year.

The Scottish Government provides funded early learning and child care places for all three and four-yearolds and eligible two-yearolds.

These places are provided through the council’s nurseries and funded partnership providers in the private and voluntary sectors.

If your child’s birthday falls between September and February 2021 you can access a place from the Monday following their third birthday.

There is a nursery A-Z and area lists for details of both Council and funded provider nurseries and childminders.

Application forms are available from all Council and funded provider nurseries. Offer of place letters for August 2020 will be posted out in late May.
