All systems go for great spring clean
East Kilbride MP Lisa Cameron has pledged her support for this year’s Great British Spring Clean and is urging her constituents to take part.
The campaign, which runs from March 20 to April 13, will see up to 600,000 people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.
Run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the spring clean will bring together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to show they love where they live.
The 2019 event saw more than half a million people help collect over 900,000 bags of rubbish.
Lisa Cameron said:“It is vital that we look after our environment and take pride in our beautiful constituency.
“That is why I am supporting this campaign and would particularly urge our schools to engage young people in this environmental clean up campaign.”
Keep Britain Tidy chief executive Allison Ogden-Newton said:“The overwhelming response to last year’s Great British Spring Clean showed that there are hundreds of thousands of people out there who love where they live and are prepared to take action to make it better for themselves, their families and their communities.
“Litter is an issue that affects every corner of the country and, regardless of politics, this is a campaign everyone can get behind.
“It is fantastic to have the support of Lisa Cameron to help us reach our target of getting 600,000 people out, taking action to clean up every corner of the country.”
