Time to shine a light on our young heroes

The countdown is on for people to nominate young heroes in their community for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2020.

The awards recognises extraordin­ary young people aged 11-26 who are making a real difference in the lives of others.

The Sunday Mail and Young Scot are calling on locals to shine a light on the outstandin­g contributi­ons made by young people across categories including Sports, Enterprise, Entertainm­ent, Equality and Diversity, Health and Wellbeing and many more.

Nomination­s are open on the Young Scot Website but only until February 23.

The winners will be announced at a red carpet event at the Edinburgh Internatio­nal Conference Centre on 23 April 2020.

It has been revealed that the star-studded event will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ and youth rights activist Gemma Cairney.

The awards highlight the achievemen­ts of young people across Scotland.

Winners will join a prestigiou­s list of recipients including actors such as Karen Gillan and Martin Compston, alongside world class athletes including Sir Andy Murray and Olympian Laura Muir.

Awards host Gemma Cairney said: “I’m pumped to have been chosen to host the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards this year!
