EK Rep set to take to the stage again

-

Players from EK Rep will showcase a range of emotions in their latest upcoming play,‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’.

Written by Yorkshire playwright, Janet Shaw, the poignant and humorous performance will take the audience on a rollercoaster ride of love and tragedy.

Produced by Tom Matthew, it tells the tale of a young woman and an old lady whose lives are poles apart, but for whom fate had other ideas and threw them together.

Andrew Cleary from the theatre group told us:“The problem for these character is, they are more alike than anyone could imagine, with both battling adversities beyond comprehension.

“Nora lost both her husband and only child in a boating accident many years ago, whilst Kylie is the victim of an alcoholic and drugaddled mother.

“Their relationship starts off with mutual comic sarcasm and dislike, but it becomes clear they are both walking down the same path to self-destruction.

“It has been a joy to learn and one we are looking forward to performing.”

This performance comes on the back of a successful showing by the group of Joseph Kesselring’s classic play,‘Arsenic and Old Lace,’and their annual pantomime,‘Mother Goose’.

They are thrilled to be starting of in 2020 with a different play from what they’ve performed so far this season.

You can see EK Rep’s production of‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’at East Kilbride Village Theatre from February 19 - 22, with performances starting at 7.30pm each night.
