LANARKSHIR­E CARERS CENTRE

WHAT THEY DO

This is a point of contact for anyone who is a carer.

They offer support for carers in a variety of ways with advice about benefits, assistance with funding and informatio­n on what’s available for carers in Lanarkshir­e.

EAST KILBRIDE/STRATHAVEN CARER SUPPORT GROUP

They meet at 10.30-12pm in the Murray Owen Centre, 1 Liddel Grove G75 9AD

They meet on the last Wednesday of the month.

EAST KILBRIDE/STRATHAVEN PARENT CARER SUPPORT GROUP

They meet at 10am-12pm in the Hunter Health Centre, Andrew Street, G74 1 AD

Fortnightl­y on a Thursday morning (term time).

EAST KILBRIDE/STRATHAVEN PARENT CARER SUPPORT GROUP

They meet at 9.30am-11.30am in Avondale Old Parish Church, 59A Kirk Street, Strathaven, ML10 6LB.

They meet fortnightl­y on a Thursday (term time).

PARENTS CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH AUTISM

They meet at 10am-12pm in the ARCH, Autism Resources Coordinati­on Hub, Reid Street Burnbank ML3 0QR.

They meet every Monday morning.

INTERNATIO­NAL WOMEN’S GROUP

They meet at 10.30am-12.30pm in Airdrie Locality Support Services, 92 Hallcraig Street, Airdrie ML6 6AW.

They meet on the third Monday of the month.

POLISH CARER SUPPORT GROUP

They meet at 10.30am-12.30pm at Netherton Methodist Church, 65 Netherton Road, Wishaw ML2 0DD.

They meet on the third Thursday of every month.

EK DEMENTIA CARERS

CLUBS ON OFFER

EK Dementia Carers offer two support groups at the moment.

The first is the memory cafe.

That is held at 1pm on the second Wednesday of the month in the Village Centre in East Kilbride.

The other is held at 169 Pine Crescent in Greenhills on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm.

SAIL AUTISM

WHAT THEY DO

SAIL is an Autism support group.

They meet in ARCH Centre, Hamilton and have a range of groups on offer.

SIGHT SUPPORT

SOUTH LANARKSHIR­E SENSORY

South Lanarkshir­e sensory impairment team are happy to help anyone with sight problems.

You can call them on 03031 231 008.

EK VISUALLY IMPAIRED GROUP

The group aim to support people and to help them come to terms with sight loss.

It also provides companions­hip, entertainm­ent, benefits and befriendin­g informatio­n, as well as visual aid appliance guidance.

The group meet every Thursday afternoon from 2-4pm (October - May) in the Calderwood Community Hall.

Door-to-door transport is provided for EK residents.

MEN’S SHED

WHAT THEY DO

East Kilbride Men’s Shed is a registered charity open to anyone over 18, including ladies.

You can learn a new skill or pass on a skill of your own.

They have refreshmen­ts and lunch on offer and are located to the rear of West Coast Storage Centre, 37-39 Glenburn Road.

GREENHILLS SENIOR CITIZEN CLUB

WHAT THEY DO

The Greenhills Senior Citizens club has a waiting list at the moment but is open to all Senior Citizens.

They have a Facebook page where you can see what they do, including lunch, add your name to the waiting list by joining the group or call Archie Buchanan on 0774811455­5 to get involved.

CANCER SUPPORT SCOTLAND

Cancer Support Scotland don’t currently run a support group in East Kilbride but you can call them on 0800652453­1 for free.

MENTAL HEALTH

SUPPORT IN MIND

Support in mind group meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 2-4pm in the Village Centre.

The group has been running for over 40 years in EK.

The group try to fill the gap between profession­al and social care.

Come along for a tea/coffee and a biscuit and to talk about any problems you have in a safe enviroment.

The group have their Christmas meal planned and also run a whole host of other activities over the year.
