Scullion:Ijust wanttoplay moregames

Liam Scullion reckons a loan at East Kilbride will build him up to be a better player in future.

The 18-year-old joined the Lowland League side last month from Premiership side Hamilton Accies, and says he will benefit from playing with and against sturdier opponents than he otherwise would in the Development League.

Speaking at the launch of the new Lanarkshire Live Sport website, the midfielder said:“Being on loan is good. It’s good to go into a different dressing room with men, to talk about different things from what we do, experience different things and just have different bits of banter, and stuff.

“I’m up against tougher and more physical players which is going to be a test for me, but it’s good. Playing is going to benefit me, but playing against men, who are more physical, harder players is going to benefit me more in the future.

“It’s brilliant working under Jim Paterson (EK caretaker boss); he’s a good guy, gives you as much advice as possible, and the assistant (Dean Shanks) helps you too, so it’s good having the coaching staff there and the players around you to just keep you going.”

Scullion’s hope for the rest of the season is simply to get more playing time and to help Kilby climb the table.

He added:“My hope for the rest of this season is just to keep playing.

“For me personally I just want to play more games, get more time on the pitch, and just keep progressing.

“Mid-table isn’t really good for Kilby, but I think they can climb it.”
