Fears for missing Lewis
Police Scotland say they are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a missing East Kilbride man.
Lewis Simpson has not been seen since around 1am on Sunday morning in Glasgow City Centre.
Specialist officers told the News he has not made contact with friends or family since that time, which they say is “very unusual”.
Now they are asking for help from the public, issuing a fresh appeal for information on Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Lex Baillie told the News yesterday that Lewis’s family “are very concerned” for his welfare.
He added: “We are concerned for Lewis , he has never been reported missing before and it is out of character for him not to be in contact with his family.
“I appeal to Lewis directly to get in touch with police or your family and let us know you are safe.
“I am also asking the public to help in finding Lewis, if you were
in this area of the city Saturday night / Sunday morning cast your mind back to see if you can remember seeing Lewis.
“Drivers please help by reviewing your dashcam. I can reassure the family that we have a team of dedicated officers working around the clock to find Lewis and the public’s help is crucial”.
The 20-year-old was in town with friends having been at Strathclyde Student Union on John Street.
There was a potential sighting of Lewis in the Broomielaw area of Glasgow on Tuesday morning.
Lewis is described as white, male, 5ft 8in with short blonde hair, of slim build. When out with friends he was wearing a black jacket, black jeans and brown shoes.
Anyone with any details about Lewis’s whereabouts should call police on 101. Information can also be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
