WINNERS 2019 - THE CALDERWOOD INN

- FRASER WILSON

There aren’t too many constants in towns and villages these days but one thing sure to stand the test of time is a good local.

Whether you’re a drinker or not, the heart of a community is quite often the pub.

A place to socialise and wind down, a good pub can be the place you turn to in times of celebration and consolation in equal measure.

A good pub is somewhere that brings people together, that can spearhead movements and help drive change.

Good decisions aplenty have started over a pint and a chat in the pub, although there have undoubtedly been just as many bad decisions made there too!

But here at the News we think the positives of a good local far outweigh the negatives.

So our Pub of The Year campaign is back! And we need your help.

We are asking you to nominate your favourite local and tell us why you love it so much. Once we have our nominations we will go about secretly scoring the pubs put forward into a top 10.

It will then come back to you, our readers, to vote for the pub you think should be crowned EK News Pub of The Year 2020.

Last year’s winners, the Calderwood Inn, loved winning the award and urged other pubs thinking of entering to do so, saying it was a great boost to the community and pub.

To enter your favourite inn simply tell us the name of the pub and why it should win in 100 words or less.

You can enter by heading online to eastkilbridenews.co.uk/puboftheyear.

And if you’re a landlord or landlady then here is your chance to pull a favour from your customers instead of pulling them a pint.

Get them to put you forward and make sure you are sharing your efforts to win the title on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
