Fabiani demanding results of Stewartfield Way consultation
wrangling between the parties involved.
Now safety barriers have been put in place at either end of the canopy, stopping people from gaining easy access to the shops and worsening the appearance of the canopy, which has warped at either end.
The canopy is the responsibility of the factors who refuse to act without unanimous buy-in from all stakeholders.

Linda Fabiani has urged South Lanarkshire Council to release the results of the consultation over plans for Stewartfield Way.
A key part of Central Scotland’s road network, thousands of local had their say on the plans to dual the road when the consultation opened in November.
That ended in December and now the MSP is asking for the results to be made public.
Speaking to the News from Holyrood, she said: “People feel strongly both about the proposed plans and of course the climate emergency in general.
“It is important the council are open and transparent about their plans for East Kilbride’s transport system and I look forward to seeing the responses once published.”
More than 2000 residents made their voices heard at two public events discussing the proposed £62million development.
That was then opened up to residents and motorists who use the road, online, with postal views also being accepted.
The Scottish Government’s energy minister, Paul Wheelhouse, confirmed proposals tabled as part of the consultation would be eligible for change in the face of the ‘climate emergency’.
Many believe the ecological and environmental impact of the construction and increased traffic the dualling would inevitably bring, far outweighs the proposed financial gains.
Ms Fabiani wrote to the council’s executive director of community and requests for comment – are believed to be holding out for all businesses and residents to contribute to the repair costs.
And that means that if just one refuses to pay what are thought to be substantial fees, the repair work won’t go ahead.
The local authority have confirmed that they will not yet step in to resolve the matter.
An East Renfrewshire Council spokeswoman told us: “The canopy is on private property, so is a matter enterprise resources, asking him for the results to be made public.
Writing to Michael McGlynn, the MSP also wrote: “Interested too to know progress on the council’s exploration of its transport planning for East Kilbride, with the reference to the declaration of climate emergency by both the Scottish Government and the council, and of course the current position with the Glasgow City Region Cabinet.”
A spokesman for the council confirmed with the News that the for the factor and their tenants.
“However, if there are concerns about the barriers, residents should report this to the council for further investigation.”
There is some good news for the shops, which look set to benefit from a makeover thanks to new council funding.
But, money from the £40,000 pot will not go towards transforming the dilapidated canopy at the shops, rather “to enhance pedestrian and cycle access”. results will be presented to elected members “soon”.
Input from News readers over the past few weeks has been mixed, with two of our three online polls narrowly suggesting people in the town are in favour of the improvement works.
Of the near 1900 people that took part in our Facebook poll, 52 per cent were in favour of the work.
That was replicated on Twitter, with 53.5 per cent of the 144 people that saying they’d like to see the work go-ahead. However, on Instagram there was a 50/50 split.
