Grandad braves the shave to raise funds for beloved Cole

-

Cole Thomson’s grandad David Quarrell recently braved the shave and his quarantine cut raised enough donations to cover two months worth of prescription costs.

The 53-year-old, from Whitehills, took on a head and eyebrow shave challenge to support daughter Lisa who has desperately been trying to source enough cash to keep funding the private treatment.

David told the News:“I decided to shave all my hair off to try raise money for my wee grandson Cole.

“Not going to lie I was nervous especially letting Lorraine, my wife, loose with clippers but knowing what he’s been through and still battles everyday it was nothing.

“When I started I was hoping for £400, within a day I had exceeded that, and then I was hoping for £1000 to cover the cost of a full month of cannabis oil.

“I braved the shave – not just my hair but eyebrows too – and raised a fantastic £2305 which is enough to cover two months of Bedrolite cannabis medicine for Cole.

“I’m shocked and delighted but most of all I’m so grateful to everyone who supported by donating and sharing, thank you.”

Appealing for people’s continued support, he added: “My grandson almost died in March last year, thanks to this oil he’s thriving. Unfortunately the NHS won’t fund this for Cole or give this medicine under a NHS prescription as they say they need more evidence, so we are having to pay £1000 a month to keep him on the oil that saved his life.

“Please help us to continue to raise money to pay for Cole’s medicine.”
