Talent show fundraiser for NHS

-

A lockdown talent contest for budding video stars in Lanarkshire aims to raise £10,000 for the NHS.

Lanarkshire’s Got TikTok Talent competition is open to all county residents to help raise funds for NHS Lanarkshire during the coronavirus outbreak.

Judging will be based on whatever talent hopefuls wish to demonstrate using TikTok or video.

Within just two days of last week’s launch organisers received over 600 video entries and 64,000 visits to the competition page with 16,000 votes cast.

A cash prize of £1000 is up for grabs for the winning entry and the runner-up will receive a one week break on the Isle of Tiree in 2021.

Hamilton-based firm Darcey Quigley & Co came up with the challenge in a bid to bring communities together by lifting everyone’s spirits as well as raising money for Lanarkshire’s NHS staff.

Entrants and supporters are encouraged to make a donation through the dedicated fundraising page which has a target of £10,000.

Managing director Lynne Darcey Quigley said:“What started out as staff competition and a bit of fun to keep in contact with my staff has now taken on a life of it’s own.

“We then decided to make it bigger by inviting all of Lanarkshire to help lift the community spirit and help raise funds for NHS Lanarkshire.

“RBS have kindly donated £1000 to get the ball rolling and Tom Brown and the G4 Group for kindly donating our advertising posters so let’s do this!”

The competition is now open to the public with voting closing on Friday, May 17.

To qualify the video must showcase your talent and be recorded within your house or garden.

The six most popular videos will then be shortlisted for the final.

The winner and runner-up will be decided by judges Edward Reid from Britain’s Got Talent and GO Radio, X Factor runner-up Nicky McDonald, local queen of events Victoria Farquhar and Paul Veverka, author and editor of the BlantyreTelegraph.
