Health board thanks hospice for helping

-

NHS Lanarkshire has thanked Kilbryde Hospice for the support provided with University Hospital Hairmyres Covid-19 patients over the past few weeks.

Kilbryde Hospice joined forces with South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership in March to support the care of Covid-19 patients during this critical time.

As Hairmyres now has the overall bed capacity to cope with the current demands of Covid-19, Kilbryde Hospice will begin the transition process of returning to business as usual over the coming weeks under the guidance of the palliative care medical team.

Calum Campbell, NHS Lanarkshire Chief Executive, said: “On behalf of NHS Lanarkshire, I would like to acknowledge and thank Kilbryde Hospice for providing palliative care assistance to Hairmyres Hospital over the last few weeks.

“We really appreciate the invaluable support provided by Kilbryde Hospice and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership in helping to ensure the demands of patient care are met at this time.”

Gordon McHugh, Kilbryde Hospice Chief Executive, added: “I’d like to thank the resilience, adaptability, talent and commitment of our team, together with the help of our volunteers and other supporters that enabled us to adapt the care we provide for our communities in this time of need.

“We look forward to returning to a state of business as usual within the confines of COVID-19 guidance and opening up the patient referral process to all our partners across the communities we serve from Monday, May 4.”
