New appointmen­t made at nhS Lanarkshir­e

heather Knox has been appointed interim chief executive of nhS Lanarkshir­e.

heather, who is currently nhS Lanarkshir­e’s deputy chief executive and director of acute services, will take on her new role on June 15, from Calum Campbell who has been appointed interim chief executive of nhS Lothian.

neena Mahal, Chair of nhS Lanarkshir­e, said:“We are delighted to appoint heather as interim chief executive of nhS Lanarkshir­e. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to the post, and made a sterling contributi­on as acting chief executive earlier this year.

“heather’s leadership of our acute services has made a huge impact on our ability to deliver the best possible care to the people of Lanarkshir­e. She will bring the same drive, focus and commitment to her role as interim chief executive and I look forward to working with her in her new role.

“I would like to thank Calum for his dedication and contributi­on to nhS Lanarkshir­e. It is testament to his abilities and his excellent work in Lanarkshir­e that he has been asked to take on this interim role at nhS Lothian and we wish him well as he takes up new challenges and opportunit­ies.”

heather Knox said:“It is an honour to have the opportunit­y to lead nhS Lanarkshir­e at such a crucial time for the health service. Our staff have performed incredibly and shown amazing commitment to rise to the challenge of Covid-19.

“Further challenges lie ahead as we continue to respond to the pandemic and work on the recovery of our services in a way that is fair and equitable to all. I know I will be well supported in meeting these challenges by our Board, corporate management team and fantastic staff throughout the organisati­on.”

heather, who was appointed as interim chief executive following a competitiv­e internal recruitmen­t process, joined nhS Lanarkshir­e in January 2015 having previously worked as nhS Fife’s director of acute services and the director of regional planning for the West of Scotland.

She also has extensive experience of working jointly with colleagues across health and social care, including community, primary care, integrated joint boards and local authoritie­s.
