Charitable donations

-

Donations of nebulisers and IBM tablets have been handed into Kilbryde Hospice and care homes thanks to a charitable trust.

East Kilbride East Councillor Galdys Miller was approached by the charity Turning Point, in conjunction with the Al-khair Foundation based in Glasgow.

Thanks to the foundation she had 10 tablets and 83 nebulisers to distribute.

Councillor Miller told the News: “This is such a generous donation.

“I decided to travel round some care units, including Kilbryde in East Kilbride and St Andrews Hospice in nearby Airdrie, along with others and deliver them.

“The tablets are to allow residents to contact love ones and some facilities are in need of nebulisers.

“Given that the hospices are so dependant on funding, during lockdown, this has been so difficult.

“Kilbryde needs to raise at least £7000 per day and they were so delighted to get the tablets and nebulisers.

“I also made a donation to Forefaulds Retirement Home of nebulisers and handed in a tablet to a council-run care home in Rutherglen.”
