Tony Macaroni are set to create a number of jobs in East Kilbride as they open an‘express’outlet in the town.
The family favourites will bring their high quality Italian cuisine to The Hub in their hometown.
Called Tony Macaroni Express, the restaurant will start trading at EK, East Kilbride when coronavirus restrictions are relaxed later this month.
A spokesman for the restaurant firm told the News:“We are very excited to launch our new express restaurant in our hometown of East Kilbride.
“The restaurant will have a more compact menu although it will still have many of our favourite and classic dishes, as well as some new menu options.
“There will be an emphasis on pizza and pasta and our very own‘Jimmy Style’pizza and pasta sharing dishes will also be available.”
Launched in 2007, Tony Macaroni has grown into a leading player in the country’s hospitality sector, with 18 outlets across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The award winning restaurant prides itself on cooking everything to order using only the freshest ingredients sourced from the best local and Italian suppliers.
It is welcome news for the town centre, with a number of eateries already falling victim to the strains caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Indeed, before that, a number of restaurants had tried and failed at EK, East Kilbride.
We told you last month how Chiquito was to close and that jobs were under threat at Bella Italia.
The closure of another restaurant at The Hub would be a major blow to the shopping centre following the collapse of the Filling Station last year and The Handmade Burger Co.
A spokesman for EK, East Kilbride said:“We are delighted this leading restaurant will be opening its doors here.
“Over the years the group has built a loyal following due its high quality and authentic Italian cuisine. We are sure the restaurant will be a hit with our visitors.
“It is no secret that the hospitality sector is facing significant challenges as a result of the coronavirus situation, however, we have been working hard to bring new operators to the centre.
“Recently we were pleased to confirm that Debenhams will be staying in East Kilbride and we hope to be able to make some more positive announcements over the coming weeks.”
EK, East Kilbride is currently following all Scottish government coronavirus guidelines relating to the hospitality and retail sectors with Tony Macaroni set to open when restrictions have been relaxed.
