Jobs boost as hygiene firm launch base

- NICOLA FINDLAY

A firm that is tackling Healthcare Acquired Infections (HCAIs) has opened a new base in East Kilbride.

Jonathan and Elaine Waggott co-founders of Angel Guard Ltd, announced the opening of a new office and factory in the town.

They are a biotechnology company who have developed state-of-the-art clinical handwash basin units.

This helps healthcare providers not only prevent infections spreading, but give real-time data on water quality, risk levels, cleaning and hand washing compliance.

The boost for EK is part of a UKwide expansion.

And it comes as a result of many years of hard work, evaluating the sanitation market and HCAIs.

It is also down to the company positioning itself as the creators of the most technologically advanced clinical wash basin.

“As a company, we are privileged to not only be working in the current climate, but to also experience the expansion of our business,” said the company’s operations director, Elaine Waggott.

“However, we want to ensure that we use our progress to provide unique opportunities for those who are engaged in the Kickstarter scheme.”

Along with the opening of the office and factory, Angel Guard is also taking part in the DWP Kickstarter scheme, allowing young workers aged 16-24 to gain valuable skills and experience, especially during such turbulent times.

Many of the workers will be engaging in the important manufacturing sector, fabricating the essential parts of the clinical wash basins.

Angel Guard is passionate about making a positive change in the fight against Healthcare Acquired Infections (HCAIs), multi-drug resistant bacteria and improving NHS waiting times and patient outcomes.

It aims to do this through the new, cutting edge washbasins, equipped to deal with all things bacterial, from cutting down on the spread of pathogens and bacteria, but also to prevent retrograde contamination, through their Michael and Gabriel units.

Angel Guard hopes to lessen the load for the NHS by helping to free up not only beds, but also time and money for healthcare environments.

The new office and factory are located in Fairfield Place, College Milton.
