Grandma doing her bit to raise funds
The grandmother of Lee Jamieson is to do her bit to continue the fantastic fundraising efforts of his mother – by shining up and strapping on her stilettos.
Anne Holmes, 78, is doing a‘walk of light’in Lee’s name – in her high heels – on March 27 at the James Hamilton Heritage Loch.
A number of years ago the feisty grandma did a similar challenge around Strathclyde Park.
Now Lee’s mum, Elizabeth Anne, and family are organising a virtual triathlon in July, asking people to do a 5k run, 25k cycle and swim 750m.
Elizabeth Anne said: “My brother has signed up to the actual Edinburgh Triathlon in July which involves going in the Firth of Forth – I haven’t committed myself to that.
“Mainly because I don’t want to drown and cause a calamity. But I will see how I get on in the Dollan when it opens and possibly try open-water swimming, so who knows I might brave it in the end. “I never say never.”
Elizabeth Anne is looking at setting up a JustGiving page for the virtual triathlon.
She added: “At the start of lockdown we had the heart wrenching decision made for us to cancel a year full of events through Live it for Lee.
“But instead, hotels and pubs were closed, gigs were cancelled along with golf and football – no ‘Ladies Lunched’ and there was no Sportsman’s Dinner.
“Our Live it for Lee Ball and my attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro have been postponed twice so far – and all we can do now is hope that we can gather momentum for all of this again, in 2022.”
