‘Evidence againstFM isdamning’
Douglas Ross believes the evidence against Nicola Sturgeon in the ongoing Alex Salmond Inquiry is“overwhelming”.
The First Minister’s evidence lasted more than eight hours as she batted off claims from a number of MSPs on the committee that she had breached the ministerial code.
Mr Salmond took the government to court on the charges, where it was agreed the internal probe had been unlawful and tainted by apparent bias.
It ended up costing the taxpayer over £500,000.
Mr Ross told the News:“The evidence of Nicola Sturgeon misleading Parliament and breaking the ministerial code is overwhelming.
“We have seen a number of witnesses backing up the accusations.
“The SNP government continued with the case when their own lawyers told them they couldn’t win, costing taxpayers more than half a million pounds.
“The conduct within the SNP and the Scottish Government is dragging down Scottish politics and after 14 years of failures, Nicola Sturgeon should resign we need a fresh approach in Scotland.”
The First Minister has been accused of breaching the ministerial code more than 30 times, but has denied all accusations.
During questioning she also denied any suggestion that she wanted to“get”Alex Salmond, who was cleared of sexually assaulting nine women whilst First Minister.
A jury found the former SNP leader not guilty on 12 of the sexual assault charges facing him, while another was found not proven.
