Big year for EK candidate
Labour candidate for the forthcoming Holyrood election Councillor Monique McAdams has been at the heart of the East Kilbride community for a number of years.
Monique represents East Kilbride West and was elected in 2017.
She will run to be MSP for East Kilbride after Linda Fabiani announced she will not stand in the next election.
Monique grew up in the town, living in St Leonards with her family and now lives in
Hairmyres with daughter Olivia.
She worked in various office jobs before training to become a management consultant.
Prior to becoming a councillor she was the CEO of East Kilbride Community Trust for more than 11 years.
During that time the charity has helped countless organisations and communities across the town.
Monique stepped down from the post at the end of last year to concentrate on pastures new but said she was “overjoyed”with all that the trust achieved in her 11 years at the helm and wished it every success for the future.
She added that she wants to see East Kilbride thrive once again.
“As someone who was born and brought up in East Kilbride, I have a warm feeling about our town and want to see it succeed and to be an economic powerhouse once again,”she said.
“As a local councillor, I think I have gained a reputation for hard work and getting things done.”
