Well-known village hotel to open again
CUSTOMERS could soon be returning to a popular hotel which closed its doors in October last year.
The Goblin Ha’ had been owned by Dee Kerr and her partner Chris but they announced their intention to move on from the Gifford business last summer.
Now, a poster has been placed in the property’s window highlighting plans to reopen the hotel, which is named after the Goblin Ha’ (or Goblin Hall) hidden beneath the nearly-800-yearold Yester Castle, located nearby.
The notice, which calls out to “all Goblin Ha’ regulars, old and new customers”, reads: “We are pleased to announce that the Goblin Ha’ will be reopening in May 2024 and we look forward to welcoming you all to a refurbished lounge bar, cafe and brasserie.
“General manager Graham Smith has been appointed to ensure your visits to the Goblin Ha’ offer you an enjoyable experience and we will be offering a quality service, a great choice of drinks and an extensive value-formoney choice of menus.”
The hotel has seven ensuite rooms, a restaurant and bar.
The notice, which is signed by Nick and Anne Heckford, of The Gifford Goblin Ltd, goes on to highlight the plans for a cafe and bedrooms at the business on the village’s Main Street.
The poster continues: “Our new cafe will open daily at 7.30am providing an extensive choice of breakfasts, beverages and cakes, along with a value-for-money
light bites menu.
“For those who like to ‘dine on the hoof’, we will be offering a takeaway service.
“Our en-suite bedrooms will shortly be undergoing a full refurbishment program personalised to reflect their individuality, along with a
new thermostatically controlled heating system allowing you to reflect your personal requirement.
“Watch out for our opening date announcement and we look forward to welcoming you to the Hugo de Giffard – Goblin Ha’.”
