TOP BRAND HOSTS RICE-THEMED DIWALI PARTY

-

BRITAIN’S top rice brand Tilda hosted a ricethemed event in London in the run-up to Diwali to drive home the message that ‘food brings people together’.

Celebrity cook and food writer Monisha Bharadwaj, content creator Sonali Morjaria, flavour enthusiast Radhika Howarth and MasterChef contest winner Santosh Shah were among the notable participants in the event, organised at Bellavita Academy on October 14.

Bharadwaj came up with watermelon dosa, Hyderabadi vegetable biryani, and rose and pistachio kheer, while Morjaria’s menu included rice and vegetable bhajiyas, kadai mattar paneer and chocolate rice halwa for dessert. Howarth showed her skills with arancini rice balls, baghali polo and zarda pulao. They were all made of Tilda rice, a brand familiar to British households for more than five decades.

Nikhil Deshpande, brand lead at the firm said, “It’s been brilliant to celebrate Diwali this year focussing on tradition and delicious food. Rice plays a fundamental role across cultures, so it’s been incredible to showcase this through a special tasting menu that stretched across different regional cuisines of India using our quality grains that truly elevate any dish. Building on our 50-year heritage, Tilda is committed to celebrating cuisines and cultures with an emphasis on quality and flavour”.

Howarth who described the event as “festive” and “joyful” said it was “fantastic to see the guests enjoy a fiesta of delicious and delightful rice dishes created by the three chefs.”

Sunrise RJ and podcaster Shabnam Sahi said food “lies at the heart of our traditions” and a meal “brings people together”.

Established in 1970, Tilda sells a wide range of rice and grains and is known for the aromatic Basmati variety. It has a rice mill and packing hall at Rainham, just outside London on the Thames Estuary. The company launched its operations in the Middle East and North America in the 1990s.
