Oyster card travel could reach Capital
But I’ll miss the cute olde world quaintness of buying paper tickets in queue from a machine and missing the tram like it’s the 1980s in Edinburgh… rather than walking straight on and tapping an app, credit card or transit card!
Alex Petty
Why bother when everyone has contactless? No-one in London uses them. I lived there for almost 10 years. I haven’t touched one since 2014. Invest in contactless for the trams!
Rebecca Dnalgdirb
I can use my over-60 bus pass anywhere in Scotland (with some limitations like no night buses and Edinburgh trams only if local to Edinburgh) Ann Rautenbach
They should just get Visa or Mastercard to pay for the equipment that allows passengers to use their regular debit, credit or prepaid cards, it’s what
Singapore, Sydney etc. all did. No-one uses physical plastic anymore, it’s all tokenized Paul Makarus
London has a hybrid system of oyster and debit card tap in & out. An investigation found that some identical journeys ended up cheaper on debit card than oyster Andy Turpie

Yes yes yes please bring oyster card type to Scotland so much easier just top up yer card. Better than worst bus tap on tap off system
Susan Docherty
Just expand the capped fare system using contactless payment cards. That can’t be that difficult
Ciara Webb
London would love to get shot of the Oystercard and force you to use your own plastic, takes a raft of trouble away from them
Ross Ormiston
Meanwhile in London they’ve sacked Oyster cards and just done everything via contactless card transactions Cal Hallows
Won’t work. Oyster cards are used in a closed system. Pretty much every station has gates so you have to tap in and out. Most of the stations in Scotland are open so they don’t have to. I don’t see them putting gates in everywhere John Hewit
Please introduce free bus transfers within 60 mins of boarding the first bus like London has

Let’s not issue a new card. Lots of people already have NIC so just use that. Better still make it something which works right off your phone from Google wallet Lindsay Watson
I mean most of UK big cities you can order travel card online. In Edinburgh you need to go to the office to order it like back in 70s… even passport you can order online… about time Nikolay Berry-Smith
