THE YOUNG DESIGNER
DIMA LOGINOFF
If lighting is the jewellery of the home, then Loginoff is making a name for himself as a master jeweller. The perpetually inventive designer has been wowing the international design scene with his flow of imaginative creations, conceived in his Moscow studio.
His exquisite ‘Mountain View’ pendant light, produced by Axo Light ( below centre, £ 1,790; italian-lighting-centre.co.uk), made waves for reaching far beyond traditional design into the realm of artful folly, with a sculptural mountain range captured inside a piece of blown glass.
Loginoff intends for entire interior schemes to be based around his products – they’re designed as strong, stand-alone concepts. Driven by experimentation, this prolific designer creates many designs ‘just for fun’, with no particular client in mind. This sense of playfulness produced his ‘Fedora’ pendant lights, which were a mere concept for six years before being picked up by Axo Light (far right, from £269; italian-lighting-centre.co.uk). Meanwhile, his series of copper, gold and chrome ‘Memoria’ pendant lights for Evi Style ( bottom right, from £402; light11.eu) are striking in their jewel-like appearance, dangling like necklaces from the ceiling. Also beautiful is his ‘Nostalgia’ series for Studio Italia (top right, from £211; dmlights.co.uk), a set of retro, glistening, hand-blown forms in metallic finishes – we love the copper.
Most recently, Loginoff has once again teamed up with Axo Light to create the ‘ Urban’ series. These simple, rounded nickel, white and bronze ceiling or pendant lights ( below, £189 each; axolight.it) show a much more restrained and minimal aesthetic – and yet, they still possess the designer’s trademark scenestealing power (dimaloginoff.com).
