THE S TONE

PINK ONYX

-

Pink onyx has been used for centuries to make jewellery and decorative accessories – its naturally occurring patterns make it a stunningly graphic surface material. And right now, design brands are going large on it. Italian kitchen and bathroom specialist Boffi has created a washbasin for the ‘Boffi_code’ collection, made from a large stone-covered plinth topped with a brushed brass basin – we love it in pink onyx ( below, from £11,820; boffiuk.com). Meanwhile, Baxter has also discovered the wonders of the stone – it’s debuted the ‘Tebe’ table (opposite), which is constructed from just three slabs of pink onyx (from £2,182; baxter.it). Again, the less detailing, the better – this rosy gem speaks for itself.
