THE NEW PRET TY
THI S LONDON APARTMENT SHOWS EXACT LY WHY ROMANT I C PRINTS ARE B LOOMING RIGHT NOW
The ‘New Pretty’ trend brings a softer and more feminine aesthetic to the home – but the look is anything but saccharine. Think powdery pastel shades and bold floral wallpapers resplendent with motifs of nature and exotic Eastern landscapes. In the beautiful Kensington home of Hannah Cecil Gurney – which she shares with her husband Ed and their baby son – songbirds chirrup in the bedroom, peacocks pose in the living room, and elephants parade through the hallway. Hannah, with advice from interior designer Tara Craig, has created a space that is exquisitely styled with vintage furniture, antiques from across the globe, and colours that create an air of grandeur. The eye-catching walls were the starting point for the decor, and feature hand-painted wallpapers from De Gournay, the family firm established by Hannah’s father Claud over 30 years ago. degournay.com
