Brooklyn-based husband and wife design duo Nick and Rachel Cope launched Calico Wallpaper (named after their cat) during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Inspired by a rare sample of antique paper found in a curiosity shop in New York, they experimented with paper marbling, digitally enlarging handmade patterns. The brand’s latest range, ‘Oceania’ ( below), is created using a salt-resist process. From £263 per square metre (calicowallpaper.com).
