Discover the exciting new range from ELLE Decoration and Crown

- Editor

To say we’re obsessed with colour here at ELLE Decoration is somewhat of an understatement. The search for the latest shades and the ways people use different hues and intensities in their homes drives so much of what we do at the magazine. Whether it’s the international houses we include and the inspirational shoots we set up, or the interior design profiles, decorating features and trend pieces on our pages, colour always plays a vital part.

Since I became its editor, I’ve often mused on the idea of coming up with a collection of paint colours that encapsulates the magazine, asking myself: what would make an ELLE Decoration colour? Which shades would reflect future trends? Which would have staying power? How would our

readers use and combine them in their own homes? What would we call the colours?

Fortunately, I now know the answer to these questions, as the dream has become a reality. We’ve collaborated with Crown Paints to create the very first ‘ELLE Decoration by Crown’ paint collection. This premium matt flat emulsion, for use on walls and woodwork, comes in a refined palette of 60 shades. These are divided into six different colour stories – all with diverse inspirations and designed to challenge modern perceptions of colour.

Why Crown Paints? Well, it’s a leading British paint manufacturer, with a heritage

‘THE ELLE DECORATION BY CROWN

PAINT COLLECTION COMES IN A REFINED PALETTE OF 60 SHADES’

that dates back more than 200 years. Its first store opened in Lancashire in 1777 and the company is still based there to this day. Crown’s paint-making know-how coupled with our command of sophisticated design was an exciting match made in heaven, with both of us pushing boundaries to shape and define the trends, instead of merely following them.

With such an extensive range, it’s hard to single out the shades I like best, but I’m already in love with the inky power of ‘Black Glass’, the intense green of ‘Botanical Noir’ and the plastery tones of ‘Hand Crafted’. I hope you enjoy using them as much as we do, and find your own favourites…

The paints are available to buy at Homebase, Crown Decorating Centres, leading independents and online at crownpaints.co.uk. Prices start from £35 for 2.5 litres. Find out more at elledecoration-crownpaints.com/gb
