NADIA OLIVE SCHNACK Interior designer
Interior designer and colour consultant Nadia Olive Schnack lives in a many-hued house in Copenhagen. Key to designing the ensuite was creating a space as far removed from a boring bathroom as possible
‘The whole bathroom was a bit of an experiment: I wanted to use materials that I hadn’t tried before’
The bathroom was a bit of an experiment: I wanted to use materials that I hadn’t tried before. The clay ‘Tainted Blue’ tiles in the shower are hand-brushed, which gives them a beautiful texture. They are from File Under Pop in Copenhagen, where I also bought the ‘Mellow Yellow’ paint for the walls. It’s a soft yellow that makes your skin look good.
The shower curtain is the ‘Coppelia’ fabric by my favourite designer Madeleine Castaing, which I bought from Edmond Petit. I really like it because the design is old – it’s from the 1950s or 1960s – but still looks modern. It also feels a bit Spanish and intriguing; I knew I wanted to use it somewhere in the house.
I was buying stone for clients when I had the idea of using granite off-cuts for the floor so I bought what they had, which was three large pieces in different colours. I had the colours of the fabric in my head and they seemed to fit. It was quite expensive but it looks very cool and it’s really easy to maintain.
I wanted to put something fun on the walls so I have art prints by Degas and Picasso and a seascape by my father-in-law. I bought the two knobs for my jewellery from Chloe Alberry in London; I like displaying my necklaces because its an easy way to see what I have.
Lots of pieces are flea market finds. I have a pair of patterned shaving bowls hung on the wall for decoration and a gold trolley which we use for bathroom products and scents to add an element of luxury to the room. nadiaoliveschnack.dk
