THE PIT STOPS

-

IMLIL: a small Berber village, gateway for treks up Mount Toukbal. Kasbah du Toukbal (kasbahdu toukbal.com) is perfect for a scenic vegetable tagine on the terrace, or to stay overnight if you’re tackling the mountain. OUIRGANE: pretty Berber village in the foothills of the Atlas, with a lovely reservoir just outside.

TIN MAL: this beautiful, and usually tourist-free, 12th-century mosque is one of only two in Morocco that non-Muslims can enter. GOATS IN TREES Yes! They climb the Argan trees (below) on the Souss plains outside Taroudant. Total Instagram gold.
