MOVING MEDITATION
BeSOPHRO, LONDON W1
WHAT: Sophrology is a type of ‘dynamic relaxation’ that involves a combination of
breathing and relaxation exercises, visualisations and meditations. Founded in Madrid almost 60 years ago by Professor Alfonso Caycedo, it’s now taking off here thanks to Dominique Antiglio, founder of
London’s BeSophro and author of
The Life-Changing Power of Sophrology.
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT? Rather than being still during meditation, sessions with Dominique involve movements such as The Pump (standing up, clenching your fists
and pumping your shoulders while holding your breath and then exhaling). Moving around creates a greater awareness of the body, making it
easier to be in the present.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: Dominique’s voice – her gentle Swiss accent is instantly calming. She also sends you a recording of your session, so you can listen at home.
GOOD FOR: People who find it difficult to sit still and stick to other forms of meditation. Rather than being a ‘neutral observer’, Sophrology helps you tap into your inner strength and generate positive
thinking from within. Namaste to that.
