Blasts from the past
Bold, masculine scents are making a bigger splash again
Back in the halcyon, hairy Sixties and Seventies, a man’s fragrance — such as Old Spice, Brut or Aramis (the daddy of supermanly scents) — was a way of alerting all to his zipper-busting virility. But as the idea of masculinity changed and revamped itself over time, so too has the expectation of how men should smell, heralding a slew of fragrances underpinned with citrus and floral notes. But this season, the big names are muscling macho scents back to the front, where they belong.
