FACES OF TWO MEN HUNTED BY POLICE OVER ‘RAF KIDNAP PLOT’

-

THESE are the faces of Britain’s most wanted men, being sought over the alleged attempted kidnap of an RAF airman.

Police today released the images seven days after two suspects, one said to have been armed with a knife, tried to abduct the serviceman as he jogged outside the RAF Marham base, Norfolk. Detectives say they cannot rule out terrorism as a possible motive. Officers were today conducting roadside checks where the alleged abduction bid took place on July 20. Police have said one of the wanted pair could have a black eye after the airman butted him.

Detectives continued appeals for witnesses to come forward. Officers have scoured CCTV and received a number of calls following the confrontation in which

the airman was able to defend himself before running away to get help.

Police believe the two men could be part of a gang now sheltering them.

All harbours and airports have been alerted and details of the pair circulated to police forces across the UK. Det Supt Paul Durham, who is leading the hunt, has appealed to anyone with information to call police.

Both suspects are described as being of Middle Eastern appearance and aged between 20 and 30. The first, said to have grabbed the serviceman, is about 6ft, has a dark skin tone, dark hair long on top and a beard. He is athletic, stocky and wore dark casual clothes. The second, said to have had a knife, is slimmer than the first, about 5ft 10in and clean shaven with short dark hair. He wore a white T-shirt and dark shorts.

Police said the suspected kidnappers used a dark-coloured people carrier.
