Hearn: He can launch global stadium tour

- John Dillon

ANTHONY JOSHUA could have every fight in a major stadium from now on and may never box indoors again unless he is in the US, says promoter Eddie Hearn.

London’s new unified heavyweight champion could take his show on the road to Germany next whether he faces Wladimir Klitschko in a re-match of their epic Wembley battle or meets Kubrat Pulev.

Hearn wants the IBF, WBA and IBO champion in action again in a stadium in October after his 11th-round stoppage of Klitschko captivated the nation.

“With what we’re looking at, it’s quite feasible Anthony may never fight in an indoor arena again,” said Hearn. “It’s too big. That’s what we’ve come to realise in the days since the win at Wembley.

“He will fill football stadiums here, in Europe and potentially in Asia and elsewhere. I’ve even thought about the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing. We’re not just looking at the US. There is Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East to think about and maybe first.

“Okay, if he went to America there are places like Madison Square Garden and the Las Vegas arenas to consider — and he won’t sell out stadiums there instantly until his name is really built upp there. But they saw what he did to Klitschko and they are very excited.”ited.”

Within the next 90 days, the IBF can order Joshua to make a mandatory defence of their title against Pulev — or risk being strippedd of the belt.

Hearn is working onn that issue with one suggestion being Pulev and the IBF will agreee to a Joshua-Klitschko returnurn providing the Bulgarian fights the winner.

“We’re not going to be messed about by sanctioningg bodies or by boxing politics,” addedded Hearn.
