Murray heads to Hurlingham for warm-up

- Matt Majendie Sports Correspondent

ANDY MURRAY will begin the final preparations for his Wimbledon defence in London at the Hurlingham Club tomorrow against Lucas Pouille.

Following his early exit from Queen’s, the two-time Wimbledon champion has revised his schedule with two matches at the Aspall Tennis Classic.

He will face Pouille, a Wimbledon quarter-finalist a year ago, with another match scheduled for Friday against a currently unnamed opponent, just three days before Wimbledon begins. French Open champion Rafa Nadal, who pulled out of Queen’s to rest after his 10th victory at Roland Garros, has also today been added to the Hurlingham field.

Nadal will take on Tomas Berdych on Wednesday and then Tommy Haas on Friday. Among other players in action at the Hurlingham Club this week are Milos Raonic, who Murray (above) defeated in last year’s final, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon qualifying began today with Marcus Willis hoping to reach the main draw of the men’s singles.

Willis was facing a tough opener against Slovakia’s Andrej Martin, who knocked Pouille out at the French Open, if he wants to emulate his feat of last year.

The Briton, now ranked 387th in the world, won six matches last year to qualify for the main draw, and set up a second-round encounter against Roger Federer.

Having been given a wildcard into the qualifying draw, he needs three victories to make it into the first round proper.
