Arsenal fans must get behind the team

-

ARSENAL will find it strange playing in the Europa League after 19 successive years in the Champions League so the players really need the fans to be behind them.

It is up to the team to start well against FC Cologne and try to generate a buzz, however Arsenal supporters can play a part.

There is so much negativity around the club, whether it’s the fans ringing up radio stations or going to the game with a downbeat mindset. They can all have an opinion on the manager and the players but when they start playing, they should get behind the team. I’m sure they will but it feels like it’s 50-50 — that they’re going to support the team but half of the reason they are there is to protest.

They need to get that out of their system. I’m not an Arsenal man and it’s easy to speak from the outside. I understand the emotions involved.

But at the same time Arsene Wenger has signed a new contract and Arsenal have a very good squad. It’s time to focus on what this side can do. Obviously the Europa Leagueague isn’t at the same level as the Champions League. But everyoneyone at Arsenal needs to be humble and professional. They have the players to win the competition.

With a game at Chelsea on Sunday, unday, Wenger will make some changes.ges. Yet there are enough options for him to rotate. The biggest choice mightht be over Alexis Sanchez. Wenger says he isn’t match fit but playing onn Thursday may make him ready for the trip to Chelsea.
