Eriksen is good enough to fill the void left by Alli

-

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has become such a good player for Tottenham he can ensure Dele Alli won’t be missed too much against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow.

Being without a player of Alli’s quality through suspension is never ideal, yet Eriksen (left) is the one I expect to step up.

I saw Spurs’ win over Everton at the weekend and he was fantastic in midfield, creating chances and dictating play.

Now, it is important for Tottenham’s season to get their first win at Wembley.

Everyone is talking about it being a mental thing but I think it goes beyond that.

It is a huge pitch and won’t feel like home to the players. We have seen that already with their failure to win in the League so far this season and their struggle in the Champions League last year.

When you’re playing teams of an even higher technical level, they can move the ball on big pitches with ease and we saw Tottenham having problems with that last season, for example when Monaco won 2-1 at the national stadium 12 months ago.

It is something they have to address. Their poor record will be on everyone’s minds — the players and the fans.

They will obviously break it at some point, but it needs to be done quickly.

To get through the group in the Champions League, you cannot lose your early home matches because that makes qualifyingng very difficult.

Borussia Dortmund won’t make it easy. They are a very quickk team, play on the counter-attacktack and will be motivated themselves.elves. Wembley provides them withh an incentive anyway, but this is also where they lost the Championsons League Final to Bayern Munichich in 2013 and will want to create some happier memories.
