If Budget makes you blue, win by a neck

-

NEVER shy of a money-making opportunity to ease whatever pain comes out of the Chancellor’s Budget box, Spy reckons punters should snap up the 4/5 from Ladbrokes on offer for Philip Hammond to wear a blue tie in tomorrow’s Budget.

Hammond was sporting his light blue number on the Andrew Marr show this week, which looked suspiciously like his March Budget effort. He also sported blue a year ago in the Pre-Budget report. When rival Betway thinks a blue neckpiece is such a racing certainty that it’s only willing to offer 1/20, then the chance to almost double your money with Laddies looks like a no-brainer. Fingers crossed.

AS FOR the buzzword bingo, the mention of “Brexit” in the Chancellor’s speech looks one for the heavy-hitters at 1/3. But with Hammond under pressure to sound cheerful about leaving the EU, “outward looking” at 3/1, “global trading nation” at 12/1 and “fit for the future” at 4/1 all have appeal. He might even do all three in one sentence. Elsewhere, Ken Clarke to fall asleep at 16/1 might be worth a punt if Spreadsheet Phil reins in the one-liners this time around.

REBRAND of the day: a Chinese car-maker called Trumpchi is attempting to crack America but is considering a slight revamp. Owner, GAC was surprised to find people snapping its motors and chuckling on social media. “When we read all that feedback, we realised it might

not be very positive promotion for the brand,” director Zhang

Fan said. Perhaps The Donald could offer some guidance on social media etiquette.
