Man raped captive British backpacker in Outback ordeal

A MAN has admitted repeatedly raping a backpacker from Britain after keeping her captive during a 900-mile road trip across the

Australian Outback.

Marcus Martin, 23, held the 22-year-old woman, from Liverpool, for more than a month after they met at a party.

She was rescued in March last year after stumbling into a remote petrol station 600km west of Brisbane, with facial fractures and cuts. Police found Martin, above, hiding in the 4X4 she had been forced to drive. Martin, from Cairns in Queensland, admitted three charges of rape at its district court and was remanded in custody to February.
