NEW RADIO NETWORK FOR 999 CREWS SET FOR TUBE
A NATIONAL communications network that will help 999 crews respond to emergencies is to be available on London Underground by 2021 following a £1 billion delay. The Emergency Services Network promises to make high-speed data more readily available to emergencies services. Based on EE’s 4G network, it is said to be £200 million a year cheaper than the existing Airwave radio system. ESN was scheduled to replace Airwave by 2020, but ministers delayed the roll-out and extended its Airwave contract to the end of 2022.
