Saddle up for a Saturday of racing thrills

Under starter’s orders: the odds for all of tomorrow’s biggest races from the Betfair Exchange

-

It’s hard to believe Alan King hasn’t won the Close Brothers Adonis Juvenile Hurdle (2.25) since 2007, when Katchit replicated the achievement of Penzance – but he has a thrilling prospect in Tritonic. He’s by Allmankind’s sire, Sea The Moon, and was smart on the Flat, so it was no surprise he justified favouritism with a strong surge at Ascot, giving him an obvious edge over the reopposing Casa Loupi.

A 12-1 chance on the Betfair Sportsbook for the Triumph, ante-post punters should take those odds before Saturday’s race. The Cheltenham hill, better ground and progress on the cards mean he’s the most interesting of the British-trained four-year-olds. Heross Du Seuil could give him most to do, though he seemed held before Honneur D’Ajonc fell at Kempton.

The Close Brothers Pendil Novices’ Chase (1.50) could be all about Hitman, who was second to Allmankind at Sandown before falling there behind Sizing John earlier this month. With Paul Nicholls’ top-rung chasers in such fine form on Sunday at Newbury, confidence is high about the son of Falco, 11-10 with the Betfair Sportsbook. This is a race Nicholls targets: he’s bidding for six wins in the last 10 runnings, with Frodon and Cyrname among previous winners. Hitman could go to Cheltenham if he wins this to tackle the Marsh Chase – though that would also entail tackling superstar Envoi Allen.

The Ditcheat trainer dominates the Sky Bet Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle (3.00) too, with Atholl Street and Lucky One. Cape Gentleman is a compelling each-way play on the Sportsbook at 5-1. Tritonic is also entered in this, but it would seem logical to stick to his own age bracket.
