-

ST JOHNSTONE finished fourth i n the Ladbrokes Premiership l ast season and won four of their five post-split games to finish the season on a big high.

H o w e v e r, m a n a g e r Tommy Wright insists that means nothing i n the coming season.

He pointed out that no one thought at this time last year Dundee United would be relegated.

They were and Tommy knows hard work, combined with skilful play, will be required to ensure Saints don’t suffer a similar fate this season.

He said: “We must make sure we take nothing for granted.

“We have done well in the past few seasons with our top-six finishes and want to keep that going.

“However, we must guard against slip.

“United went down last season and we don’t want that happening to us.”

Tommy has added four new signings, Keith Watson from St Mirren, Paul Paton from Dundee United, Blair Alston from Falkirk and Michael Coulson from York and is hoping to add one more player.

“We have recruited well and the four new lads have settled in nicely,” Tommy added.

Saints are working hard in training and, later this week, will set off for Northern Ireland to take on Glentoran i n Belfast on Saturday i n t heir first pre-season game.

The Perth side then begin their League Cup campaign away t o Elgin City on July 16. letting things
