New-look Albion are raring to go

-

DAVE Thomson, who had many successful seasons in Dundee youth football, is now in charge at Forfar Albion.

Joining Dave at Guthrie Park are his long-time coaches Mike Gellatly and Tom McCabe.

The new management team actually took control of the North League outfit with just four games of last season remaining.

At that point, Albion were anchored at the bottom of the table, with only one point from their previous 24 games.

While it was not possible to move the side off the foot of the league, the new men improved their points haul by taking four from the last four games via a first win and a draw.

That was an instant return for Dave and his team and they are now preparing for the new campaign.

They’ve held pre-season training sessions which have been very well attended and will strengthen their young squad with a number of signings before the start of the season.

The following friendlies have been arranged — home to Finavon Amateurs on Saturday, July 19, followed by an away game against Wellbank Amateurs on Saturday, July 23, and 23 at home to St Lawrence Amateurs on Saturday, July 30.

Forfar Albion’s Player of the year was Dylan Cook, Coaches’ Player was Sean Ferrar while the Clubman went to Willie Milligan.

SCONE Thistle’s Player of theYear and Players’ Player was Fraser Mills. Clubman of the Year was Eric Duff.
