Nurseries to have spots for two-year-olds

-

DUNDEE City Council is now offering places for two-year-olds at 13 of the city’s nurseries.

Early Learning and Childcare places for two-year-olds will be available for three hours and 10 minutes of each day of the school year.

These will be either a morning or afternoon place and sessions will take place between 8.30am and 3.25pm each day.

If as a parent or carer you are receiving one or more of a specific list of benefits, then your child may be eligible for a place.

Those on income support, incomebased jobseeker’s allowance, income-related employment and support allowance, incapacity benefit or severe disablement allowance could be eligible.

Others who may be eligible include parent or carers receiving a state pension credit, child tax credit (but not working tax credit) and an income below £16,105 per annum, both maximum child tax credit and working tax credit with income less than £6,420 per annum, as well those receiving support under the Immigration and Asylum Act.

Children will become eligible the term following their second birthday.

Application forms are available from any council nursery or can be printed from the council’s website. These should be fully completed and handed into any of the 13 nurseries involved in the scheme.

In order to sign up, parents and guardians will need evidence of the benefits they’re on, proof of the child’s age and proof of address.
