Chance to see how the garden grows

-

NINEWELLS Community Garden will open its doors to members of the public next month.

Visitors will be able to see the various plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables grown in the garden, buy plants and receive information on therapeutic gardening.

The free open day will raise awareness of the garden and the opportunities it offers the community and hospital.

Garden facilitator Sarah Griffiths said: “All the hard work of our volunteer gardeners is really showing, with an abundance of flowers, food and wildlife.

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open day with a fun-packed day full of activities for all the family, plant sales and tasty home baking.”

The event is being hosted by volunteers at the garden in the grounds of Ninewells Hospital on Sunday August 28, from 1pm-4pm.

Young children have also been invited to take part in a series of activities based in the garden.

The Ladybird Kids Club will allow children aged between three and eight the chance to try bug hunting, den making, bark rubbing and seed growing, as well as participate in a treasure hunt.

The events are free to attend and will run for six weeks from August 31, from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
