Get-out clause allowed striker to leave the club

-

was a new deal not offered to make buy-out clause more reasonable?

@DerryBoyDee — Raging. What annoyed me the most is that it seems to have been done in ONE day? Harkins fiasco then this? What’s next?

@gregdfc90 — Surprised? PR disaster this pre-season.

@RampantAndo — Hardly inspiring but time will tell. Money there now to improve the squad, Stewart will go too I’d say.

@migo1827 — Club tradition to sell cheap. Need to learn from the other lot.

@HodgeScott — Fans need answers re sale — if this is consequence of failing to make top six last season,TELL US, if there was a clause, TELL US.

@GordonLrg11 — Oxford sell their top striker to LUFC for £3m and buy our top goalscorer for 1/12 of that, good business but not for us.

@dee4life1988 — Some things never change.

As those views show, the Dark Blues faithful are less than impressed by seeing one of their team’s star players move on at such a crucial point in the build-up to the season.

The club will argue they were powerless to prevent this and maybe even that without a release clause the Englishman would not have agreed to sign last summer.

What no one will contest is his loss is a big one. His goals last term were massive and will not be easy for the manager to replace.
