Xplore asked to explore amending new bus route

-

FOLLOWING his recent meeting with the managing director of Xplore Dundee about proposed bus changes in the West End ward, Councillor Fraser Macpherson has put forward specific proposals to the bus company.

Cllr Macpherson said: “I am very concerned that the No 5 service is proposed to miss out a large part of Perth Road west of Glamis Road.

“This will mean nothing apart from the No 9 going west of Glamis Road and, taking account of proposed Stagecoach changes, nothing at all running west of Tom McDonald Avenue.

“This is a large area of residential housing being affected adversely and I’ve received concerns from many residents about it.”

Cllr Macpherson said that Xplore Dundee has told him the proposed change to the route is to allow for the No 5 to cover Dickson Avenue.

Although this area is well-served by the No 22 and Stagecoach’s No 73, Cllr Macpherson suggested to Xplore Dundee that, if it insists on the No 5 being re-routed to Dickson Avenue, the company could minimise the detrimental effect of the change by re-routing the No 5 via both Ninewells Avenue and Dickson Avenue, thus retaining much of the Perth Road on the route.

Xplore was approached for comment but hadn’t done so by the time of going to press.
