Broughty lifeboat called out

-

BROUGHTY Ferry volunteer lifeboat crews were called out to their third call in a week.

The RNLI volunteers were alerted at 3.59pm yesterday following a call from the Coastguard.

The call was in response to one of the Broughty Ferry beach lifeguards becoming concerned about a stand up paddleboarder, who was seen to be around three quarters of a mile offshore.

Following the alert, the inshore lifeboat was launched at 4.05pm, with the assistance of RNLI shore crews.

The crews quickly located the female paddleboarder at the beach to the north of Tentsmuir Forest.

She was found to be in no distress and had no complaints.

At the request of the Coastguard, the inshore lifeboat crew then escorted the paddleboarder, who was not thought to be local, back across the river to Broughty Ferry.

The lifeboat returned to station. then
