Macbeth on road to Dundee

GLASGOW’S celebrated Bard in the Botanics festival will bring a production of Macbeth to Dundee next week.

The five-hander version of Shakespear­e’s most enduring tragedy is directed by Bard in the Botanics artistic director Gordon Barr and is set in the 1950s.

It stars leading members of the Bard company including Kirk Bage, who marks 10 seasons with the festival t his year, as Macbeth.

Nicole Cooper plays Lady Macbeth and Robert Elkin stars as the Witch.

The show will be performed at the Macrobert Arts Centre i n Stirling this weekend, then Dundee’s Botanic Gardens on Tu e s d a y and Wednesday, before moving on to the St Andrews Botanic Gardens on Friday and Saturday.

The Macbeth tour culminates with an August 7 evening performanc­e in the grounds of Cawdor Castle. Tickets for the Dundee dates are available via t he Rep’s box office, with performanc­es starting at 7.30pm.
